Dark Nights Batman The Murder Machine #1

I wonder if with each of these dark Batmen they're trying to make the reason they become evil even more heartbreaking. It was really hard to watch Alfred being murdered so brutally. In Dark Nights the Murder Machine we see the events that lead the Bruce Wayne of a Dark Multiverse world become an evil robot intent on murdering everyone he deems a threat. The friendship between Cyborg and Bruce in this world seems really strong as Cyborg does everything in his power to help Bruce in his time of total despair. These dark stories are full of action and are engaging and fun to read. I get a sense of real power from each of the dark batmen. Watching regular earth Cyborg attempt to hold his own against the Murder Machine feels like a desperate fight that is unlikely to be won. The snapshots we get of the dark world as it falls into chaos gives me the saddened feeling I get reading something like Injustice, where no matter what the good try to do, evil prevails. I'm loving these books so far and am really looking forward to the explanation of the events leading up to batman becoming doomsday.

Green Arrow Rebirth #30 Hard Traveling Hero Part 5

What's better than 2 bros doing bro stuff? After years of separation we finally have the reuniting of DC's most green pals. In his ongoing quest to stop the ninth circle who have destroyed Seattle and rebranded it Star City, Green Arrow has run into the biggest leaguers, and now in this issue Ollie & Hal are together again. To be honest the beef between the two was sorta overhyped, and I'm not totally sure what has happened between them in this continuity, this whole time they've kept talking about how much they hate eachother but once they meet it's sorted in like 4 sentences. But this comic is everything it needs to be. It's absolutely fun, it's classic Hal and Oliver going on a ridiculous adventure wise cracking to eachother the whole time. This time they take off to space to take down the ninth circle's evil satellite on the dark side of the moon. Totally ridiculous and fun. Also endless love for Schmidt's art. Next up in issue 31 we get all the leaguers Ollie's teamed up with so far in one issue together!

Edge of Venomverse #5

I wasn't very excited to read this comic, I feel like it's easy to write Deadpool in a way that makes you roll your eyes more than you laugh. But man I had so much fun reading this. This series keeps going back and forth for me with fun books but also real boring and un-interesting ones. This issue had me smiling almost the whole way through. There were so many points of this book that I loved and enjoyed. The Venom Symbiote turning into a heart when it sees Deadpool was wonderful. And Deadpool spraying a lady in the face with his blood after she cuts off his arm was hilarious to me. I suppose even though so far the series has been hits and misses, it's done its job cause I'll definitely be reading Venomverse after this.

Green Arrow Rebirth #29 – Hard Traveling Hero Part 4

Green Arrow travels to Gotham in his mission to bring down the ninth circle and of course runs into the Dark Knight while infiltrating a Court of Owls human hunt. This issue continues the arc of having Ollie team up with a different leaguer each issue. The beginning shows us that Ollie knows the rich playboy scene but Bruce only fakes his part in it. I'm a huge fan of Juan Ferreyra's art and the darker direction he took it for this issue is so good. The argument between Bats and Ollie in the middle feels a bit forced but I really liked the moment of Bruce saying he can count on Ollie after saving a captive. I also love the conversation between them at the end with Bruce telling Ollie he needs allies and he needs the league. Still one of my favorite books and I am so heaps keen to finally see Ollie team up with Hal again in issue #30.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #13

I love this book so much. A big part of that is thanks to Dexter Soy's wonderful art, he creates this dark world in a style I totally love, however the start of this book shows a world seen through the memories of Bizzaro. It makes Bizzaro way more likeable to me that he sees the world in this cartoonish childlike way, and his simple names for the Justice League were really cute. Along with great art, Lobdell writes all the characters in this book so well, like Luthor saying "Nothing I do is out of the kindness of my heart". Overall I never used to really care for Bizzaro in any way but seeing all these characters love him in their own way (Including Lex) has made me like the character so much more.
